About Leagle Sense
NG Kwong Loong
Background
He is the founder of Leagle Sense LLC, which became operational on 16 October 2020. He has helped more than 100 individuals and companies in the following practice areas: motor accident claims, contractual claims, criminal defence, probate and administration, mental capacity act application and divorce.
Before legal practice, he graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Honours) from NUS. He donned a jump suit and worked the night shift at a factory which made silicon wafers. One night, he suspected a machine fault and asked another department to repair the equipment. He was turned down, until he produced test results which proved the machine was malfunctioning. Today, he cites this story to remind clients that they need objective evidence, rather than mere suspicion, to persuade the court to rule in their favour.
From a jump suit, he emerged into a more open role to teach physics in a top secondary school. At first, he faced problems because the students preferred learning concepts over rote learning. After receiving guidance from senior teachers, he relied less on oral delivery and more on teaching aids (e.g. videos and pictures). Today, he cites this story to remind clients that if they want the court to grasp a difficult point, it is better to rely on objective evidence, rather than one’s testimony. Objective evidence like photos or videos will do the talking more effectively.
Thereafter, he enrolled in law school as a mature student. In his first year, he took part in mooting and was eliminated in the first round. He won a mooting prize in his second year and was selected to represent his university in his third. Today, he cites this story to remind clients that unlike a competition where you can learn from experience and try again, in real life, they only have one chance to present their best version in court. They need a guide beside them who can help to polish and present their best self.
He obtained his LLB from University of Liverpool in 2013. As a trainee, he was privileged to have been trained by a Senior Counsel. Having been called to the Bar, he has emerged from the classroom into an even more open role to address and deliver his points before the Honourable Court.
